He knows and trusts that I am capable, but he always loves to take care of me and our dd's, even though they are grown now at 27 and 18. If we are going anywhere, he will print us directions and phone numbers (even though we all have iphones and navigation), he will call and check on us. He will give us 10 things to make sure we remember. It's cute. Our oldest dd, who has been married for several years, went on a business trip recently. He checked on her to make sure she got everywhere o.k., and had maps of the airports printed. It's a little overkill, but it's because he cares.
My DH lets me handle things, but keeps a close eye on things in case I need back up. Now that I'm pregnant, he's very protective though, which is nice.
It depends on what you mean by protective. If I'm involved in a verbal altercation with someone, then he will stand back and let me handle it, since he knows I'm more than capable of doing so.
He is physically protective of me. We've never been involved in a violent situation, but he shows it in little ways like putting his arm out in front of me when we're crossing the street so I don't step out in front of traffic. Normally that would bug the shit out of me, but I've moved back and forth across the Atlantic 3 times and that really messes with your head when it comes to which way the traffic is coming from.
Quoting i.heart.myboys:My hubby is going to let me handle my own unless he sees I'm in trouble but I'm not afraid to ask for help.
OMGosh yes. He knows I can handle myself but he is always ready to step in when needed. It's not needed very often because I stay out of trouble haha. He's just protective of me. How else do you explain it? LOL
