My super awesome wonderful husband has decided to quit smoking which is really hard for him to do. He has been smoking for almost 10 years now. we are also military so you see everybody smoking so that really does not help him but being in the army he also gets help he is going to the month long classes to help him and getting medication to help quit the smoking too. He has tried a dozen ways without them and has always given in by day three! I of course want to support him in the whole process and i was thinking about getting him a congrats gift for when he goes a whole month without them kinda like way to go you did it congrats man! but I am so stumped on what to get him i wanna make him laugh every time he uses it or sees it and make him feel super proud of himself. he has been trying to quit for years now so this is huge!

Good for him! Glad he's finally ready! Idk what to get him. But make sure he knows how proud you are of him.

What a Debbie downer. I smoked for 14 years and quit cold turkey. I've been a non smoker for over 4 years now. How about a little support for people making good, healthy decisions.
Quoting Metteba:I don't get you women...you met your man when he smoked, right? You marry him and then you complain about his smoking.
Great...he won't last long, before he starts smoking again - sneaky tooo, lol. ...just let him be...geez.
Hun i don't think you really read the post very well he choose to do it as he recently got back from a deployment and decided to make the decision to quit so he could walk his girls down the aisle his words where im not gonna keep throwing my life away as a buddy of mine died in the war so i could continue to enjoy my family and my freedom. please read the post as i have never forced that decision on him i have just been waiting for him to know when the right time was for him. i also smoked in the past so i understand how hard it is to quit and the sense of pride you get when you can say im done with those cigarette's

to all the other ladies thank you so much for understanding where i am coming from
I'm really embarrassed to say this, but I smoked for 15 years. From the summer that I was 14 years old up until a couple of months ago. I've tried quitting several times and it's really hard. I used the patches to help me quit. I started on Stage 2, and finished with Stage 3. I only used the Stage 2 for a month and it's recommended (when you START with Stage 2) to use it for 8 weeks. Then I used the Stage 3 for 2 weeks (which is recommended). The hardest part was coming off the Stage 3. Even from that little amount of nicotine, it was rough. As your body goes through withdrawal, it's very painful both physically and mentally. What motivates me in not picking up another cigarette is that I finally quit and I've been through the withdrawal. I never want to repeat that again!!!!
I think you should get him a massage to help relax some of the tension he's probably feeling right now. Not only from quitting smoking, but from coming back home from overseas. Also get him some whitening strips for his teeth. Watching his teeth become whiter and no longer stained from cigarette smoke might help motivate him that much more. :) I think it's awesome that he's decided to quit.
