Avril Lavigne's Engagement Ring Is So Big It's Blinding
When it comes to finger bling, some women will tell you there's no such thing as too much. Those people probably haven't seen Avril Lavigne's engagement ring. Yup, the "Complicated" singer
is engaged, and no, it's not to former long-term boyfriend Brody Jenner
(sigh). You know that little band called Nickelback? Yeah, she's
engaged to Chad Kroeger, the lead singer and guitarist and Avril's boyfriend for the past 6 months.
But really, back to the ring, shall we? Reportedly worth $350,000, the pear-shape diamond is set in platinum and, wait for it -- is 14 carats. Holy shit. I'm just gonna come out with it: The ring is too damn big.
We've seen many a big celebrity engagement ring before. Remember Kim Kardashian's 20-carat hunker? Who am I kidding, how could you forget? Well ... I'm pretty sure Avril's ring has upped the ante, if you will. Yeah, it may be less carats, but darn is it humongous.
I feel like some people think the bigger the engagement ring, the more love that's floating around. Well, let's be honest, when I see Avril's ring, I think of a few things -- none of which involve her blossoming relationship with her fiance. First, isn't that thing heavy? I wonder if the muscles in her finger will have to start working overtime, and then eventually she'll have to get the ring resized because her ring size will change.
OK, so maybe that's a bit of a stretch. Doesn't a ring that size become a distraction when it's that sizable? When I think of my ideal ring, I think of something that's functional. I think of something that I can wear day-to-day and feel comfortable in. You can't honestly tell me that Avril feels comfortable wearing a rock on her finger like that, right?
To each her own. I'm sure she's VERY happy in newly engaged bliss, and the duo is working on some sort of duet that will play on my local classic-rock radio station. Personally, I'm just really interested to see if she ends up having to get that ring resized.
What do you think about Avril Lavigne's engagement ring?
Obnoxious! An insult to people starving, suffering, & struggling to make ends meet all over the world ... Yeah they are celebrities and have the right to spend their money how they choose - but something that extreme & over the top is just ridiculous in my book! And I don't say that just to this ring but ALL the others in Hollywood, like Kim K's they mentioned.
I really feel that if she is happy then that really is all that matters. If her fiance is in a position to afford the ring for her, why is it anyone else's business?? I personally am not a fan of the cut of the stone but if it creams her twinkee then thats all that is important.
It's a pretty ring. I think it takes the right person to pull of a huge ring like that and it doesn't look way too big on her hand. If she loves it that's what matters. Personally I prefer smaller rings but to each their own!
If you click on the highlighted words "the ring" in the article it takes you to a pic of the couple and a close-up of the ring.
Quoting EmilysMom2010:
*you should post an actual pic of the ring.
I'm more of a "simple is more" type of person... but whatever.
