I just saw a commercial for a new show coming on TLC called "Something borrowed, something new" or something like that. Its about altering your mothers dress and wearing it or choosing a new one altogether. Well it got me thinking...

Has anyone in here worn a handed down dress from mom? Did you have it altered? Or did you buy your own, and if you did, would you encourage your DD or maybe future DIL to wear it?

I wore my moms when I was younger and it got ruined. But I would not have wanted it. We have totally different tastes. My parents bought mine and I still have it. I just can't get rid of it. It means a lot to me. My girls will wear any wedding dress they want.

I purchased my own dress and I honestly don't want anyone else to ever wear it.  Luckily I only have boys, so that shouldn't be an issue.
