Yes, for all three of my kids! The first time my mom threw it, the second time my mother in law, and the third time, my stepmother did, trying to out do each other each time. I loved the attention, but I have more boy clothes than any store I've ever seen (I have three boys). I'm a little worried about what will happen this time (I'm pregnant again), who will want to throw this baby a shower.
Yes I had a big shower with both mine and DH's family, my SIL's family (BIL's wife), lots of friends and both mine and DH's co workers. I was having twin boys after 3yrs of trying, an ectopic pregnancy that almost killed me and 2 miscarriages, needless to say we were beyond happy. DH and my mom planned it and went all out, it was amazing.
For my first born yes, and I told our friends to wait until after my second was born if it was girl they could have a shower for me, since my first one was a boy. They were only 2 years apart and I didn't want two showers in two years if I had another boy. It was a boy. They brought food for 2 weeks instead, which was awesome!

I didn't have one for my first (dd). But with my second, my mil threw one because my ds is only the second boy out of 11 grand kids. All the rest are girls.
