He took me to dinner and invited our friends to meet us there to celebrate my birthday a couple of weeks early. While we were eating, he handed me a stack of papers that turned out to be a story of how we met and started dating. The second to last page was blank and when I got to it, he put the ring box in my lap and told me to turn over the page. When I did, it said Yes in all caps and he asked me to marry him...That was 18 years ago..
