When you were naming your son, did it ever occur to you to name him after your SO/DH/BF?

Why?

I named my oldest after his father but didn't want a junior so I gave him a different middle name.
My husband didn't want a junior so we chose Irish names for them.

So its only a jr if the first and middle name are the same?

SO wants a jr. but his name is so popular.. not as much anymore but I like uncommon names.

With my boys father(s), I gave them first dibs on our son being a Jr.  I think its the respectful thing to do. so to answer your question Yes, I asked their father first...

Yes, they're only a junior if they share a full name.

No. He doesn't like his first name and we don't like jr's.

I asked my husband, as a courtesy, but he was ADAMANT against it. So....that was the end of that discussion.

Oh yuck. SO's middle name is horrific.

No, not to name him 100% after him

In fact we fought over my son being a JR until 20 minutes before we had him. In the end he shares his middle name with his father and his grandfather and his first name from another grandfather....
