Hi. I have always wanted to ask someone this..

I find sex to be a chore when i'm tired mainly bc of the "clean-up" afterwards ie) going to the bathroom so I don't get an infection. I gave to get out of bed, go down the hall, turn on the lights, go to the bathroom, then go back to bed. I do this allllll the time bc in my early 20s I didn't after and got an infection. -Have I been right thinking I have to get out if bed and go to the bathroom each time (all these years! )? In the movies people just do it and snuggle in for the night.. I would love that and would do it way more often if that was the case..

I just read that highlighted post that said how many times per week people do it, and everyone makes it seem so easy! -Am I just lazy, or am I doing something wrong? :P

 ahmmm..... ... ...

yes, the standard advice is, you should try to urinate before and after to help reduce the risk of infection.

Don't ever evaluate your sex life by what you see on TV, that's for sure.

I don't always clean up after, and I've never had an infection. We do have a connected bathroom, so when I do clean up, it's easy and close by. If you want to clean up all the time, shower sex is great!

Clean up really doesn't a take that long though. Our bathroom is connected to our room, so it's quick and easy. And yes, if I don't pee before and after, I tend to get an infection. I'd rather than pee, than deal with a UTI again!

I don't always clean up afterwards.  This morning snuggling afterwards was way more important than any consequences I may or may not suffer afterwards.  I've never gotten an infection because of this but I do typically follow procedure; but some days a warm bed and loving arms are just more of a priority.  Taking in that moment is worth it to me.

I always get up and clean up.  I don't want to lie in a puddle of eww.  We always have a towel near by, but I still go in the bathroom and clean up.  T.V. is FAKE, they don't really do it, they just make it look like they do.  Unless you are watching porn and even that isnt very real.

With TTC, it has been great because I just throw in an Instead Cup (or DivaCup) as soon as we are done so nothing runs out!  Otherwise...yep, go to the bathroom to clean up.

Sometimes I do. It depends on how tired I am. I've only ever had one uti, and that was at eight months pregnant when I wash having much sex at all. If I'm going to or back to sleep I won't get up, but if I'm not going to sleep I'll get up, pee and clean up.

I have never gone before or after & have never (knock on wood) gotten any infections. My BF cleans up after every time though. I have never been with anyone who has before him. It wasn't important to them I guess.
