ok, so as I look at some posts they are like a foreign language to me with all the abbreviations. DD, DS, SDS, YDS, DH, PIOG. Why can't we just spell out words? I have no idea what all these random letters mean. Maybe I'm just oldschool.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I get confused by abbreviations, too.

If it helps, I think that some of the ones you mentioned are: Dear Daughter, Dear Son, Dear Husband, and Posted In Other Groups. Not sure of a couple of them though.

YDS - younger dear son, ODS - older dear son. D is the abbreviation for daughter. SD is stepdaughter, SS is stepson. SO can be significant other OR spinoff depending on what context SO meaning spinoff is usually S/O. DH, dear hubby. DF dear fiance.

Somewhere in the Newcomeer's group is a list of all the abbreviations and what they mean. The ds, dh, lol I can handle, but I HATE when full words are all shortened, like srsly, ur, etc. SERIOUSLY, you can't add the couple extra letters to type a full word?

I am glad there are more of us out there.  It took me awhile to catch on.  :)  I think it is easier to spell things out, but we have become a country of let's do everything the easy way.  It is like that even in school SPELLING doesn't even seem to be important anymore.  :)
