I just made my first batch of homemade laundry detergent!!! UDATE in replies
I just made my first batch of homemade laundry detergent. It was not as bad as I thought it would be!
Let's just hope that it turns out ok.
It cost me about 7.60 for the borax, washing soda, and soap. Then I bought a 5 gallon bucket and a grater (so I don't use the one I use to grate cheese). So for everything I spent about 12.00..But of course the grater and 5 gallon bucket are a 1 time purchase.
The borax and washing soda will last forever..lol.
I did that recipe, except mine was 1 box of borax, 1 box washing soda, 1 box baking soda, two bars grated soap, and two small tubs of oxy.
My receipe lasts 4 months for about $16. We have hard water, and it works much better than anything else as far as getting the dinginess and odor of the water out. It also gets BO smell out in my son's shirts better than anything. However, if there is a food stain, like you dripped katsup down a shirt, it has to be sprayed with Spray n Wash or it will not come out with just the homemade soap alone. Overall, I'm happy with it.
I love their laundry soap too.
Yes, I found the Fels-naptha bar soap in the laundry aisle. It was on the aisle with fabric softener..
Sorry it took so long to answer but my internet was down all day yesterday from a storm that knocked it out...

I use their recipe and love it. The Fels-neptha bar soap is in the laundry aisle.

Saw the Duggar recipe. Never heard of Fels-Naptha soap bar. Is that like a regular bar of soap on the soap aisle? Is that a preference thing or what?
Thnaks for this tip, I have beenwondering about stains like that before I go make and use my own detergent.

Quoting Deshonsmommy:Wow good for you I down graded to Gain from Tide But I love the smell! I dodn't think I could give up the smell now that I found Apple Mango Tango!! and now it comes in a fabric sofner!!
I just made mine last night and I'm not quite sure what to think about it. My son is still wetting himself and I tried to my new soap to see how it works on his clothes and bed spreads and the pee smell was STILL in the washer and on 2 items of clothing when I brought them out! I had to wash 2 times and it was STILL in there, I even added 1/2 cup of borax and the washing soda..
