Ok, I'm just having a great day and really have to share! DH rented the Dave Ramsey book from the library and it lit a bug under his butt, so I read it too (I was already on board halfway when he started talking about it). Now we've sat down and REALLY looked at our money situation. We've started budgeting, doing cash envelopes, etc.. We are down to only my CC, the cars, student loans and the house (we've cut up 7 cards, even though we didnt' use most of them). By august, we'll have paid off my card AND my car, and if I can secure a teaching job for this fall we'll have DH's truck and my student loans paid off within 3 years. (his truck in like 9 months - I have 40K in student loans, that's going to take a while, lol).
It's just so uplifting to finally have a grip on our finances. No more dipping into savings for a few hundred here and there. It's tough because now I have to watch what I spend, but I think I'll be able to do it. I've been working on cash budget for food the past month, which is helping me going into the "it's serious no wiggle room" grocery mode. I went to publix today and saved 65%. I spent $75 after tax, and I thought I was going to spend $80. I got dog food, beans, paper towels out the wazoo... I totally stocked up on stuff and saved a bundle! It was so energizing!
Then I get home and finally check my email for the day and I got an interview! An islamic school I sent my resume to wants to interview me Tuesday! Then I have another interview on June 5th and applied to 6 more jobs today. I'm not sure if either of my interviews are going to be my dream job, or even spur an offer, but at the very least I'll get some experience with the interviews which will make me more comfortable for any others! I've still got my fingers crossed for a few of the districts close by to contact me (my june 5th interview is an hour drive..yikes!) . Wish me luck! I've gotta study now!
oh and the weather was so beautiful outside today we got to play in the pool and this summer is going to be AWESOME!!!!!
