This is a s/o from a reply from another post.

I was criticized for having a expedition but qualifying for Wic. Yet its a 2002 that we bought used after having our 3rd kid 5 yrs ago. We looked at several options. We knew we needed something to haul our trailer and to be able to fit our whole family in. (We sell woodcrafts) At the time we found a better deal on this than any mini van. And we liked it better. We paid it off last summer, a yr early and traded in dh old 96 truck and his 2001 mustang that I drove for work. These were both vehicles he bought before I met him. And got him a new 2011 ranger with a lower note than we had on the expedition and now lower insurance because we only have 2 cars. But we are spending more on gas.

We have a 2003 Saturn vue (paid it off in February!!) And a 1994 cougar, I think that's what it's called. Just a car to get him to and from work. It only needs 1 tank of gas every 2 weeks!

And we qualify for WIC too.

I don't drive at all and we couldn't qualify for wic if we tried. Dh drives a 04 Mitsubishi galant.

People assume lots of things based on their feelings and that may not be fact at all. As long as it works for you and your family.

We have a 99 Expediation and a 99 Oldsmobile. Both were bought with cash, upfront. We have four kids, too. I'm not sure if we qualify for WIC, it would be close. Some people jump to conclusions without thinking stuff through.

I drive a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan.  DH drives a 1999 Saturn SL1 that has 250K miles on it.  Both were paid off a long time ago.  I know we'd qualify for WIC's income guidelines but our kids aren't young enough.

I don't know why someone has an issue with the 10 year old car that you're driving.

WIC doesn't care what kind of car you drive.  They just want to know your income, and the qualifying level is higher than for food stamps.  People get food stamps and WIC confused, I think.

I have a 2004 honda accord. We paid it off with taxes in feb. I think (just over 1yr early). Df drived a 2002 ford escort. We got it for $1600 and he drives the shit out of it. Lol. Before they changed his show up, he was driving 120miles round trip everyday for over a year. Now he drives 90ish everyday. The first year he had his car he put 130000miles on it

I drive a 2008 Chrysler town & country and will continue to qualify for wic for 2 more years no matter my income. One of my children has.Medicaid until he turns 18 so that qualifies him. (But the rest of us qualify too for income and kids on Medicaid for secondary insurance)
