Honestly, I could care less one way or the other. I just get irritated with small minded people who think Obama is the sole mind behind health care reform. I'm not even an Obama supporter, but am not so ignorant to think that he himself is "Obamacare".
I honestly hope you don't think everyone who says the term obamacare is small minded or ignorant.

Why is it Obama care? Obama did not single handedly come up with the idea, write all the policies, or pass it into law. Obama is not a health care provider, doctor, or insurance company. I don't get it.

I am all for it. I live in mass and we have "romney care" which is essential the same thing but at the same level. Without it we would have not been able to get all the testing and care my LO needs.
I hope that now at the federal level people all over the country have access to a primary care doc to get well-visit check ups and preventative care, saving money in the long run by catching health problems early. People will no longer have to decide between paying for groceries, utilities and medical bills.

It's not free. People will be required to purchase health insurance or face penalties/fines. Yes, insurance companies cannot turn you down for preexisting or certain conditions, like they do now, but I'm sure people will still have to decide between paying for groceries, utilities, and medical insurance.
We have insurance through DH's employer, but there have been several times we've decided to not see a doctor or not take a medication because we didn't have the money for deductibles or co-pays, which will still exist under this health care reform.
I know its not free, but it is a step in the right direction of taking care of the health of our people.

Oh, I agree that everyone should be able to have access to affordable health care. I'm just saying that this will not be "free", as many people think it is. The govt' run Medicaid and Medicare aren't free health care....people still have co-pays. The only difference is that now people will be forced to buy health insurance instead of being allowed the choice, and people that DO buy insurance will still be paying for people that don't.
For example: here in Michigan we are required to carry auto insurance. Yet, there are MANY people that don't have it. Yes, they're fined, they're penalized, but it's cheaper for them to not have auto insurance. Those of us in Michigan that DO have insurance pay a higher premium than in many other states because part of our premium is paid into a high-risk pool to cover problems arising from accidents with people that DON'T buy insurance.

...and honestly? The gov't has done its share of ruining the health of our people. I don't know that I trust them to take care of the people they've made sick.

Lack of regulation and oversight when it comes to our food and medications. Subsidizing GMO soy and corn crops. Following Big Money when it comes to promoting a "healthy" diet.
