What do you need to move in a house. I mean need. We have a high chair and crib and mattress and bed stuff for him. Plus his eating stuff. We bought some plates bowls and cups. We are getting a bed and box spring and got a couch at a garage sale today. We cannnot buy anything extra for this move in because we are  just really tight right now. So If you had to move in a place and had very little money what are the necessities to live there?

The absolute minimum would be a bed, plates, cups, silverware, bed linens, towels, pots and pans. I would make sure all of the basic essentials were purchased before getting living room and kitchen furniture.

2 moms liked this

I've done this!

We used a card table and chairs for a kitchen table and chairs.  I had a crockpot and microwave, pots & pans, baking sheets, toaster oven and cheap dishes & eating utensils.  I had one 2 cup measuring cup for liquids and a set of measuring cups and spoons.  I had a hand mixer.

For the living room, we had a TV set on a crate (covered with a nice sheet), a sofa, a rocking chair.  If we had guests, we pulled in the chairs from the card table set and we used lawn furniture.

Bedroom:  mattress frame and mattress, 1 set of sheets.  Hangers for clothes in the closet.

Baby's room:  you've got everything.

Misc:  bath and kitchen towels and cloths, shower curtain, toilet brush, clothes baskets

That's all I can think of for now.

I could sleep on the floor if I had to. But we are just trying to get some basics and then slowly get stuff as we can.
