Reusable, dishwasher safe snack/sandwich bags

I was in Maine last week and noticed in a kitchen store some cute sandwich and snack bags similar in size to the clear  throw away kind in the grocery store.  They were dishwasher safe, water resistant, reusable and had a velcro closure.  The material was bpa free and looked like the old fashioned oil cloth yet it did not specify exactly what it was made of.  The price was outrageous at $9.00 and up for just one small bag.  It is a great idea and I would like to make some.  Does anyone have any ideas what I could use for the body of this bag?

I think I'd be leery of what I put in them though

But maybe not
They might be healthier than the plastic alternative

I think it's a great idea! Maybe do it the same way you'd make a diaper cover.
