Were you able to stay within your back-to-school budget this year?  Were you able to find some good deals on clothes and supplies?

Amazingly the only thing DD will need is a backpack. She's only in preschool, but I expected to get a few things. According to the school news letter DD's school doesn't require anything other than backpacks for the preschool - 2nd graders! We'll see if that changes by the time shes a 2nd grader.

I was able to find some extremely good deals and even stock up for next year on some things.

For the clothing budget i stayed within it buy buying a lot of shirts and such at the thrift stores in my area. There are always awesome things at the thrift stores and I dont mind hand me downs at all. I always come out of there with things from old navy, nike and so on and nobody ever notices we get a lot of our clothes at the thrift stores.

Is it just me or did the back to school clothing sales really stink this year??  Our supplies were pretty cheap and I probably could have saved more $$ if I had waited to buy kiddos back pack/lunch box, but I wanted to make sure she got what she really wanted.  You only start kindergarten once.  Mom logic.

I didn't really set a budget since I knew my ds wouldn't need much. All I had to get was 3 pairs of jeans. Got them at Old Navy for $10 each. I prefer old navy jeans because they hold up longer than other brands. I know I will be able to pass then down to the younger son. I did take my sister and brother and planeed to stay under $200, I got everything they needed and had money left. This did not include their supplies only clothes and shoes for my sister.

My older boys who are in  8th grade, 6th grade, and 2nd grade started school this past Monday and my youngest son will start Pre K next week. I spent about $20 on all their school supplies, the most expensive thing was a $10 binder for my oldest son. I didn't have much to buy we had glue sticks, crayons, markers, scissors, colored pencils, pencils, pens, paper and notebooks from last year. My mother-in-law will buy the school clothes, which she has been doing since my oldest was in kindegarten.
