My hubby and I's 10th anniversary is October 25th. We don't like to go out to eat. For one it is too expensive, there are not that many great restaurants around our area of Iowa, and honestly my husband makes a better steak then any restaurant can.
So...my question is does anyone have any cheap and fun ideas? I honestly thought of taking the kids to my in-laws and just coming home and hanging out. But that might end up with him asleep in his chair and me asleep on the couch.
Congrats, our 10 year is 12-12-12. I think I will probably do something similar to what I just suggested.
YES!! We just had our 10 year anniversary this month and were going to have our first short away trip without the kids...Then we had to buy a car...Drained our savings...So we had the kids spend the night at my inlaws, and we borrowed their bikes and took a bike ride around the city (Pittsburgh). We had a blast. We did some shopping and went out to dinner, but saved a bunch compared to what we'd originally planned. Happy Anniversary!
I like this idea a lot.

Definitely have the kids stay somewhere. Make a steak dinner for 2, light some candles and dim the lights. Dress up like you are going to a fancy restaurant just for fun. Take a walk, holding hands after dinner. Take a blanket with you and find a tree with a good view of the sunset. Sit and talk about the last 10 years together and then talk about the next 10 years together.

That is a great idea! I figured we would do the steak dinner at home. We live in a town of 350 people and the nearest town is 15 miles away...the nearest city is 45 miles away. I don't want to have to drive anywhere because of the gas prices. So taking a walk after dinner would be great. I think this is what we will do!!! At least get us out of the house so we don't fall asleep!

We live in a teeny tiny town called Garrison. We are in between CR and Waterloo. Our kids go to Vinton schools.
I was in Perry a few years ago for firemen's convention. My husband (along with my dad, brother, and nephew) is a volunteer fireman. That is usually our vacation away from the kids every year but we just can't justify the cost...and we don't drink so really whats the point in going to a drunk fest. LOL
