Hand me downs// Consignment// sales? QUESTION AT BOTTOM OF POST

Okay ladies, I'm new to this group, BUT I must share my wonderful finds with everyone. Over the weekend me, a friend and my MIL went to a consignment sale and the mall to look for sales/deals. Well, the consignment sale was VERY sucessful. Got DD a carters 18m winter coat Org 71$ got it for 22. BRAND NEW.
Got a bunch of other things for fall and winter as well. A cute pair of boots. THEN we went to the local mall and hit The childrens place. Got her TONS of pants, shirts, and jammies, ALL ON SALE! Longsleeve, and jeans.
Heres a pic of all the loot from the sale/mall.

but wait, THERES MORE! Lol

I must say, I am very blessed to have such a good friend. Her daughter is only one year older than mine. We had the same due date. So.. she gave me a lot of her clothes, actually, most of the fall and winter clothes. I don't have to buy DD a thing now! she has 15 jammie sets, 45 winter//fall outfits. 5 sets of shoes (snow boots, rain boots, 2 pairs of the same sneaker in different sizes, and a cute pair of nikes!) Everything looks brand new, and is in wonderful shape. I was so overwhelmed with joy because I now know my baby will be dressed very well this winter!  There were also some very cute christmas dresses, bibs, etc. and all these outfits plus the stuff at the consignment sale. DD now has a full fall//winter wardrobe. I am one happy momma... Heres a pic of the stuff my friend gave me!

Ignore SO's hairy legs LOL

so, my question is. How do you feel about consignment sales//hand me downs? Personally, if its in good shape, why  not? We've saved SO MUCH money. The friend that went with us to the sale said she felt "bad" about shopping for hand me downs. So she barely got anything.

have you ever felt "bad" about shopping at consignment sales? or recieving hand me downs from friends and family? And why?

I feel no shame, I wont get anything thats stained or has holes in it, or looks too outdated. I always hunt for cute, and adorable things that match DD's personality.

I LOVE the second hand store near me. It is full of very gently worn name brand clothes for usually under $3 each peice. A lot of them are cheaper. I get whole jammie sets too. I found a brand new Colorado jacket for my neice for only $8. They are super expensive new. I need to go and get some more long sleeve for my son this weekend.

I love hand me downs!! I have a hard time finding anything at consignment stores. However I also love stores like Ross & TJ Maxx.
