Not yet.  He has two cavities to fill first.  Then after that we will set up the consult and then start looking around for prices etc.  Nobody I have known has managed to get their kids in braces for less then $4500.

Have you gotten a quote from an orthodontist yet?  My then-8-yr old needed braces, but only for a very short time and only on one jaw.  The cost for his braces was $4000 less than the braces that my 2nd oldest DS needed.  We were easily able to finance the cost through the orthodontist (interest free.)

Oh my gosh!!  Where do you people live??  $4000!!!  That is crazy high!  My son's was $2000.   How long for the treatment?  We just had a visit today, he is almost half way through.

When my children were young, I could have tried to sell them on the street corner, 2 for a penny, and get no takers.  Just joking.  But some days they went far beyond being a brat or having a temper tantrum.  Ugh.  Such are the joys of parenthood.
