How can I get the smell of gas out of DF's clothes?

Did he spill gas on them or is it just from being around gas?  If he spilled it on them, I'd soak in hot water and Dawn to help break up the residue, then rinse well before washing with vinegar.

Spilled on him. He's trying to fix a leak in his gas tank :/ and its not going well. Thanks for the tip. The washer just finished washing them a second time I'll go give them a smell.

Lestoil (sp) will work also, its smelly but will get anything out

gasoline or diseal?? diseal is really hard to get out and you do NOT want to wash it in your machines. It leaves a residue that you can't get out. 

I'd try and put baking soda right on the gas spot before washing it.  That might pull some of it out of the jacket.
