Are you planning to plant a garden this year?  If so, what are you planning to plant?

I think this year we are going to plant a couple of varieties of tomatoes, yellow squash, onions, and maybe some cucumbers.

I'm sure getting antsy to see my garden again!  Remind me of this in August/September...I always swear at that time of year that I will NEVER have another garden  LOL

here's what I'm planning:

  • green beans
  • broccoli
  • beets - both red and gold
  • brussels sprouts
  • cabbage - both red and green
  • carrots
  • cucumbers
  • sweet corn
  • kale
  • romaine
  • assorted salad greens - bibb, oakleaf, leaf lettuce, etc.
  • spinach
  • melons - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew
  • pumpkins - pie and jack-o-lantern
  • butternut squash
  • spaghetti squash
  • zucchini
  • banana peppers
  • jalapeno peppers
  • sweet bell peppers
  • green peas
  • 4 kinds of tomatoes:  beefsteak, roma, cherry, grape

These will be in a container garden:

  • Herbs:  basil, dill, chives, oregano, and parsley

I'll grow these in pots:

  • mint:  peppermint and spearmint
  • stevia

I've not decided if we'll try to grow potatoes, sweet potatoes, or onions.

I will also have producing strawberries, apples, and grapes this year.

I have several rose bushes:  blue, deep red, double delight, yellow, peace, pink, white. They're in a long bed along the front of the house that also has red seedum, allium, tulips and daffodils.

I have Asiatic lilies that need replanting this year:  red, pink Stargazer, and white.  They're in a small flower bed with dianthus, grape hyacinths, and crocuses.

My mailbox garden (around the mailbox) has lavender, purple coneflower, silver mound, and jackmanii clematis.

I ordered seeds for bachelor buttons, blue morning glories, autumn sunflowers, and zinnias.  I may try to start some cape daisy seeds that I have.

I have 2000 square feet of plantable veggie garden space.  Planting usually takes more than a day, then it's just keeping up with the weeds, which I dedicate at most a couple of hours a morning to doing.  I grow in beds, not rows, and the general nature of growing in beds eliminates a lot of weeding once the plants are thick enough to cover the bed and act as a natural mulch i.e. blocking sun and holding moisture in the soil.  The worst part of my gardens is the HARVEST and preserving it!  That's about when I get sick of my garden and all that it's producing.

That's totally understandable! That's a lot of stuff to harvest!! But amazing that you have the space/time/energy/abilities to handle it all; that's gotta save ya $$ at the grocery store!!

I just don't know yet.  LOL.  This Texas gardening has given me quite the run for my money these past several seasons.  I really need to get out to the stables and haul in some of Apollo's good manure and boost my garden again.  Guess I'd better get on that task...and quick!

i'm planting tomatoes, peppers (bells and hot), broccoli, green beans, sugar snap peas, salad variety of lettuce, radishes, zucchini, maybe some carrots or onions.

i also have a raspberry patch, apple tree and rhubarb. I might add some grapes this yr as well and i've heard you can plant blueberries in a container so i might try that this yr.

I'll have basil, parsely, rosemary, thyme, mint, cilatro and dill in containers as well.

I also do a variety of flowers but never decide what till the last minute. lol

We moved so need to check with the landlord if I can plant in ground or if I have to do container gardening again...

I plan on lettuce, onion, potatoes and cucumbers for sure. I would love to do more! Also idc if he says no or not I'm planting an apple tree this year even if I have to get a huge pot for it.
