What are some things you are willing to really spend more on than your frugal self would normally allow, simply because the higher quality truly makes it worth it and saves money in the long run?

I really am too.  I'm trying to find ways to stretch what I buy because I've become willing to spend more for organics.  I can actually feel the difference in my body with organic vs. mass produced.

Well made clothing in classic styles. A navy suit, a pair of jeans that make you look 10 years younger, a handbag that will hold all my crap.

Furniture. Quality furniture will last years and years and in the end cost less.

I'm definitely willing to spend more on classic styles in brown, black, or navy.  Thus far, I haven't been willing to spend a lot on jeans, but I'm coming around on that.  I might spring for one pair simply because the fit is so much better.  I know women who will even pay to have the patched if they wear holes in them.

Have you ever had furniture reupholstered?  I have a well-made chair that has a big rip in it, and I'm thinking of having it reupholstered rather than tossing it.

I totally agree with this. When I first moved out on my own I got most of my furniture from Walmart. 8 years later its all had to be replaced.
