Help Getting Started Please!

I had to become a sahm due to losing our sitter and childcare being so expensive (I wanted to anyway but we were hoping finances would be better first).  I started my Avon business (still trying to get customers so I'm not making much).  I have been doing things to try to save us money: almost no eating out, make my own cleaners including laundry soap, rarely go anywhere to save gas, using less electric/gas, and I am trying to grow my own veggies this year.

I live in NWI and I am having a hard time finding all these great deals you see other people getting.  I really can't afford to buy 50 papers to get coupons and we don't know many people out here (to save coupons for us).  I have also noticed that stores seem to be getting stricter with their coupon policies.  Anyone else live in NWI?  How do you do it?  Any tips are appreciated, thanks!

Do  you use Shopper Cards when you go to the stores, Like Rite Aid, Walgreen's Winn Dixie, Food Lion, Giant Eagle, Bottom Dollar,  etc.

If so, gather your Keytags, Shopper Cards, etc. and go to the following sites to Make an Account and add your Shopper Card #s to get Electronic Coupons Added to your Store Shopping Cards:

http://www.upromise.com

http://www.cellfire.com

http://www.savingstar.com

Meal planning helps us cut our food costs especially if you plan your meals around the sale items in your grocery store circular.

Start small. i set a specific amount aside for deals/ stockpiling each grocery trip anywhere between $10-20

Our stores don't double out here but I save a great deal by stacking coupons.

You should check out those sites like Krazycouponlady and couponmom to get the latest deals so that you know if it's worth it to buy the paper that week.

Start small and stay realistic. The show extreme couponer's is all false and its near impossible to shop like they do. I live in a state that doesn't offer to double coupons so that makes it really hard. I found the best way is to get coupons/papers in groups of 2. You can contact your local paper and talk with them most papers will offer some kind of Sunday only special and some even allow you to just buy X number of coupons when you have an account with them. Another way to get coupons you'll use is to find a coupon "train" its a group of people that take their coupons that they won't use and the mail them to person B. Person B looks through the coupons and takes what they want, they then add more/new coupons and mail them to person C and on it goes. Good luck.
