$27K was the original price.  We've done some work on it and have refinanced several times to help cover those costs, so it's hard to tell.

5 bedroom ranch, 2000 sq ft. 10 acres with 2 barns.

with our old house we paid 60 grand for it about 13 years ago.  We sold it as a short sale a year ago for 38 grand.

right now we are buying a trailer for 12 grand.  it will paid off in 2 years and then we will buy a newer bigger one.

$38K?  That's not much of a house payment or even a downpayment.  I put down $2K on my home and payments were $200/month.  Honestly, if this is the house you want, do everything possible to get it.  With that amount of land you could do a LOT to save or even earn money.

Crap - now I feel like I got ripped off.
I live in the California desert on 10120 feet of land, 3 bedroom, two bath, 3 car garage with a pool - our original price was $142k. After some stupid, stupid, stupid (can you see I'm mad??) decisions, our current mortgage is $197k...
