Welcome to Day 3 of the Thrifty Thanksgiving Challenge!

What's one of the biggest distractions while you cook? Kids! Keep them out of your way and occupied by giving them simple decorations to make for the Thanksgiving table. If they're busy doing something fun they're less likely to fight, whine, and keep you from getting things done right and on time. Here are some easy ideas your kids can try.

How do you keep the kids busy while you prepare Thanksgiving dinner?
What kinds of fun Thanksgiving crafts have your kids made?

when my kids were younger they'd normally watch the parade! One thing you could do is give the kids a BIG sheet of brown craft paper (or butcher's paper) and have the kids write or draw a picture (if they are younger) of what they are thankful for.

We always spend the day with MIL at her house so they are entertained by my BIL and the rest of the family that they don't get to see regularly.  At home when I cook meals they are usually reading.  My kids love to read!

If the kids are older this could work but my 18 month old son might try to teethe on the craft parts. I think I would give younger kids duplos to play with and watch seasonal-appropriate movies like Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
