Do You Spend More on the Big Birthdays?

Planning this party got me thinking. My dd will be 5 next year. That's a whole hand! Half a decade! Kind of a big deal. I have a lot of ideas in my head for what I want to do and I'd like to throw a bigger party than usual.
So does the age mean anything to you when party planning? Do you go big every year, or keep it small every year?

We have always done birthday parties the same.  We invite the same people and generally have the same schedule of doing things at the party.  Meals are usually whatever the birthday kid requests(within reason), and then cake and icecream.

We typically do bigger birthdays at 1, 10, 13, and 16, 18, 21 if the person still wants a birthday party at those ages.

My oldest is turning 16.... Huge birthday. We have rented a hall and are making and doing everything ourselves except we are using their DJ.  It is still a lot of money but this birthday is huge for her.

1 mom liked this

We tend to get big for dd's birthdays.  The fact that she's still alive is HUGE and we get a little stupid.
