this TV is pissing me off. we bought it around tax time in 2009. It's a Sylvanna or some crap like that. Really odd brand I'd never heard of before. We paid out the ass for it because we were stupid and instead of waiting FOR taxes and go get one at best buy, walmart...anywhere like that. we bought it at a "rent-a-center" type place. I remember paying at least $800+ for this stupid thing.
Last week I seen Sony and the bigger brand names at Walmart for $300ish. I. was. pissed.
now, 3 years later the stupid thing is suddenly shutting itself off then turning back on. sometimes it doesnt even turn itself back on. sometimes i cant even get the thing turned on, and get sat down before its turning off. sometimes it goes days or weeks without any trouble at all.
I contacted the company and all they could suggest was I go have it "looked at" and they gave me the closest service center to me. Which is a few hours away.
I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to their TV. Is it worth taking it to be looked at? will the repairs be more then its worth? should i just go buy a new TV?
and BTW, i dont get this at all, but if I unplug it, or turn the power strip off that its plugged into for a while. then turn it back on, it works fine...for a while (few hours maybe?) but if i only turn it off and wait a while, then try to turn it back on it doesnt help at all!

Madisyn-4 Rylan-2 Expecting #3!
I agree with Candiece sounds like you are resetting it like a computer so to speak, cost to get it fixed may be high, we had 1 we got fixed after the Hurricanes and it was over $300 but Ins paid it was old.. I have a Sony that I just had to stop using it was getting lines on it so we had to move things and change our LR for the other TV I want my other one back or a new one, Vizio I think this time very nice TV's and not too expensive too but I need 50 inch at least!
It might not be worth fixing. We had the same problem with our old tv. There was a loose electrical connection inside. We had a repairman come and fix it, but a few weeks later the problems started again. We didn't want to have to call a repairman every few weeks so we just bought a new tv.
Those rent a center places really jack up the prices because a lot of people don't make their payments and the have to repo merchandise. ( I am not saying that is you or anyone on CM) It may be simply a fuse or circut breaker in the tv that is causing it to shut off. My old tv did that and we got it fixed fairly inexpensively but then other things started happening too. It was way older than 3 yrs so we donated it and bought my hubby's dream tv 72 inches of HD with surround sound. When he waches NASCAR it's almost like being at the track without the smell of burning rubber ( maybe they could make those in Scentsy for him)lol
