Has anyone had a false negative autism test?  We had my 6 now 7yr old tested through our school district, they said that he scored outside the autism range.  I'm wondering if the testing in child development specialist would be different? His pediatrician is refering him for genetic testing  see if that could explain his symptoms

There is no genetic testing for autism. Are they looking at possible gluten intolerence or fragile x syndrome that can have similar symptoms and can be diagnosed through genetic testing?

What type of professional health care provider tested your child through the school district?  What tests were used?

I would take him to see a developmental pediatrician and have him tested. I've never heard of any genetic tests that can be done.

He finally has an appointment with a geneticist! They will take care of everything!

It depends on how in depth the genetic test is.

Many children with autism do not have fragile X or williams, they do have genetic issues but these are not as easy to test for.   It takes a very detailed test to find the other genes related to autism.
