We are very certain our ds has aspergers! He has had several symptoms for many years, but many were dismissed to ADHD or being shy. Well, our baby went missing out of our car while I was sitting in it and dh was out talking to a friend. He slipped away without a sound, his sister sitting near him didn't even see or hear him get out. We found him within 5-10 minutes 3 blocks away at our house. Once found, he couldn't tell us how he got out of the car, not even to the police. We ordered him a medical id necklace as soon as we got back home. Has anyone else ever had a hard getting a lo diagnosed with autism

DS (10) is technically double diagnosed, but the Asperger's (now HFA) is written up as a borderline diagnosis.  He fit the criteria, but they thought most of his issues were really just from his ADHD at first.

Now, at 10, it's clear that there's more than just the ADHD going on, so I'm glad he got the Dx.  Have you talked to his psychologist about these type of communication problems?
