I think many of you will be able to relate to this feeling...of having given up so many dreams, goals, plans, energy, and time in order to provide the best care for our child(ren)...that we literally forget what qualities make us unique. I read in one of the Chicken Soup books the other day: that we need to create a life for the person we are today, not the person we used to be. This makes sense because the beauty of having a child with special needs is that their needs bring out qualities in us that we didn't know existed. So we can actually be better than what we originally dreamed.

I like this. It is so very true. Although I do have friends that don't seem to understand things have changed.

i am a way better person because of this. i feel prouder and have a cause to live for and fight for.
