Any former Preemies with SPD?

When I was pregnant with my son, my water broke at 21 weeks delivered at 27 weeks.

Now he is 7 years old. He was diagnosed with ADHD a couple months ago but I refuse to medicate him so I sought out occupational therapy instead.

At his evaluation his OT said he is not ADHD but SPD. She said this is common in preemies due to being forced outside of the womb to early. They don't get the extra time to mature their brain, nerve , and muscle control.

I read that 1/3 of preemies are diagnosed with ADHD. The symptoms are so similar that I wonder how many preemies are misdiagnosed and put on medicine when what they really need is occupational therapy.

ummmm something to think about.  Dean was born right on his due date pretty much, and my 2nd son who WAS born early (a month early) doesn't have an issues.  So I don't really know from personal experience.
