Social Skills Come to Life

Model Me Kids® videos demonstrate social skills by modeling peer behavior at school, on a playdate, at a birthday party, on the playground, at a library, at the dentist, restaurant, and more. Real children model and narrate each skill. DVDs for ages 2-17.

Designed as a teaching tool for children, adolescents, and teenagers with Autism, Aspergers, PDD-NOS, Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD or NLD), and developmental delays, the videos are used by parents, teachers, and therapists. The videos are also helpful for teaching children with developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome.

Review By MAAP Services

"Both Susan Moreno (Director of MAAP Services for Autism & Asperger Syndrome) and I had the opportunity to review these videos and we were both very impressed with the quality. The videos are great not only because the skills are modeled by peers, but also because the skills are broken down step by step and then reviewed using the storyboards which have actual pictures of the scenes depicted in the video. They also use arrows and other graphics to draw the viewers' attention to the certain cue or body language used in the social skill. We also like that each social skill (or chapter) is only a few minutes in duration. This allows multiple viewings of the same chapter for repetition in a very short amount of time. Both Susan and I highly recommend these videos for schools and/or use at home."

What a Mom Says:

"I cannot believe how much your DVDs have helped my son. They are an answer to prayer--in a big way! It was unbelievable how he identified with each and every situation given in the video. Finally something made sense to him! We try to coach our Aspie kids through these circumstances, but until they actually can watch it, the pieces of the puzzle do not quite come together. I own Model Me Conversation Cues and Model Me Friendship. I was so excited to see that you have Tips & Tricks coming out soon! I cannot thank you enough!"

Hi Michelle,

I have 3 of the videos.  If you want to borrow them you are welcome.  My son watched them a couple times but  declines to watch again.   Occasionally we will watch a short section.   They are helpful. Unfortunately the library will not carry them as the company forbids loan out.  The videos are really on 1/2 hour long each.

You can email me.

A woman on my other group used them with her son and she said he loved them, but felt they weren't interactive enough.  She prefers the ones from Social Skills Builder,  http://www.socialskillbuilder.com/ .

Thanks to all so answered.  I will check out the social skill builder ones.  Ela thank you for offering to let me borrow them, but with the twins I would be to afraid they might scratch them.  I kinda get from your tone you weren't impressed so I think I will keep looking.  Thank you so much for your offer, you are such a sweet person.

Hi Michelle,

I just found the Sharing and Taking Turns    and  Handling Transitions and Changes videos from the Skill Building Buddies series at the library.  My son loved them and asked to see more in the series, but there is only 1 more on hygeine.  These were very good. A mix of cartoon and kid actors.   I liked this better than the Model Me Mine series and since it was at the library it was free!

I think we had the iPhone app for Model Me, it looks familiar. However, it also looks like the kiddo deleted it. Syncing my phone now so will see if it adds it back on.
