Body Odor... what to do?

When my son goes outside to play, just for an hour, or even just 15 min to take out the trash with me or hubby, then comes back inside, I hug him and whew! He stinks!

He takes a bath every morning.

When I sweat I stink too. I usually put on a bath and body cream on my arms etc and spray one of those body sprays.

But, is that okay for 3 1/2 yr olds? What about when they're at school? Once the sweat drys off, its not as bad, unless you smell his hair lol but I don't think kids will be going up to each other that close -- except my son will!

LOL. What to do?

My son gets stinky too. He is only 4 and he gets regular baths. He gets a rash in his pits from sweat so we put baby powder in his pits to help keep him dry. He is toor young for deoderant so we just do the powder. Every once in a while my dh will spray some Cologne On him when he is putting some on.

Have you tried Tom's of Maine odor fighting bar soap?  It works great on my son.  I get it at Walgreens.  :)

Some kids smells bad because their metabolisms are out of wack...its a sweaty smell but a different kind of sweat smell. He smelled bad - especially his head or hair. My son smells wierd too but hes not technically old enough for it to be a nasty boy sweaty smell. Have you tried detoxing him with simple epsome salts baths or maybe a stronger detoxifying bath. Sometimes they just need a good cleansing. :)

I'm not in the medical profession but I think it's unusual for a child that young to have BO.  Usually that doesn't start happening until puberty.  I'd ask your pediatrician.

Well, he smells great when he comes out of the bath. Its just after sweating.

In latin american countries, where there is no air conditioning (oh my God thank God for the US of A lol) and a lot of sun, people there drench themselves and their kids in baby powder after they shower... maybe i'll try that. Ive been hesitant about that... i don't know why really. I guess I just thought it was kind of weird...

But i'll ask my pedi for sure. :) Thanks ladies
