My dh is having a VERY hard time adjusting to our son. (We have 3 children under 3 and our autism child is adopted) I added all that because it all plays a very big role in my husbands problems. We are currently separated because he can't deal with the daily stress appropriately. So one of our big issues is when we go to family gatherings or out in public. We are trying to learn and communicate better with each other.
One of the biggest issues our ds has is eating. So since hes already stresses out from a new environment, we've decided to bring our own food for him and feed him before everyone else sits down to eat. I've packed a back pack with his favorite foods and plan to feed him in a separate room and then will give him a plate of snacks or whatever he wants while everyone else eats.
What things do you do different to help ease doing family functions like bbq's or whatever?
