My son's most recent speech eval...progress!

We weren't able to finish the expressive part of Donivan's most recent speech eval, but she scored the auditory processing portion (receptive language).

I got the report in the mail today after my wonderful (childless) day out.

He scored a 91. 27th percentile. Low-average.

Meh.

However, when first given this test at age 15 months (obviously the test was geared back then towards a much younger child), he scored a 67, which freaked me out.

Between 85-115 or something is the "normal" range. So a 91 is improvement, right?

I should be "happy", right? I am. I had hoped for higher, but I'm grateful for the improvement.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. :-) We still have a loooooong way to go...

You're right. I always get my hopes up for "more" and it's silly because he always makes progress and that's what I should focus on- not "how much" or "how much I wanted/expected". I just need to say to myself, "He's made progress." It's a taken a hell of a long time, but progress is progress. :-)

Thanks.

He's moving forward. He's making progress and he's doing well! I know it would be nice to wave a magic wand and have him all caught up, but he's making progress and he's going at his own pace.

His pace is what his brain needs :)

Yep. That's right. He goes at his own pace, that's for sure!!! ;-)

Believe me, I know it could be a lot worse. I'm not complaining- really, I'm not...this is good news.

I think his progress is great.  I have gotten to the point any forward progress is great!  I have read so many posts about regression that I will take anything positive.

Totally. Ten thousands times better than regression! :-)
