very sad past few days

so a few days ago i posted an update, well judes speech is still improving or well hes still repeating everything. however, the one thing he had that i bragged and bragged about, the one thing that didnt meet the criteria didnt alarm me, is very fastly deteriorating.

he is becomming less and less responsive. he only responds to his name after you say it 20 times, he use to listen imediatly now its like pulling teeth to get him to. hes starting to be more in his own little world, i mean he will say things but getting him to look at you, listen to you, its getting so hard to get him to pay attention to us, and when he does its only for a second.

idk if this is a form of regression or what, generally his regressions just involve behavior and speech, ive never seen him like this before.

it makes me very sad, very frustrated.

good new is we got the forms for the weisskopf center today, so now just to find out when his appointment is, to get him evaluated.

Thats awesome that you're getting him evaluated.

Let me tell you a short version of Floortime. I'm new to it.

Whatever he likes to play with (trains, phones, whatever) let him play with it on the floor and you sit next to him and get a similar toy and try to play with him so that he reacts to you. Try to say his name while playing.

The fact that he responds at all even after 20x, its still a sign of progress. Just keep at it and try to keep it positive with him at all time. Its hard, mom, but you can do this :)

Does it damage the door?

You may not be able to lock them in, but you can know when they leave the house.  We are getting sensors that go above doors/doorways and will chime when there is movement under them.

I think when I first found out I had a list of well Jacob doesn't do that. Now either it's getting worse or I'm paying more attn. Hes now started wandering more than at the store. He's gone missing from the house 3Xs in a week. How do you lock a 12 yr old in.
Other things have shown up, but I think is because I just didn't notice as much. Obviously not the wandering thing.

Bless you!! I can almost say I know what you are going through....as soon as my son started speech therapy, everything else started regressing....his manners, his attention, his focus on ANYTHING but the nintendo DS, everything. I try to ask my mom friends what is going on and if their kids ever did anything like this, but the point is moot because they don't have an aspie child. I hope things get better for you and your son alike.  *hugs*

Man that's scary. My lil one's 3 and he was a 'dasher'. As soon as we left any establishment he would take off running at full speed. I eventually corrected it by keeping goldfish crackers in my pocket and making him hold my hand in order to get one. But now he's dragging chairs to the front and back doors to unlock them and sneak out. Where does a 3 yr old have to go with such urgency? So, looks like mine might have the same wanderlust as yours. I might install a lock really high up so he can't reach but I'm sure your 12 year old is taller than my 3 yr old. I'm not sure what to tell you. The door chimes will at least let you know when he opens the door.

No it would be like hanging a picture from the door or ceiling, depending on how you mount them.
