We dont have a communication notebook in school however they do have a folder sent home daily. In it is a sheet of the weekly goals they are working on. Also daily they write what they ate for breakfast and lunch. It never hit me until a few weeks ago but it's barely anything. The 1st few months while they were on the gfcf diet, i used to send their food in. Then around February they came off the diet and the teacher suggested they eat school breakfast/lunch to expand their horizons. However, Dezmond wouldn't eat it so i kept sending his food. Now i send his breakfast but his Lunch they give him pb&j. Actually, sometimes they split his breakfast sandwich and give him half for breakfast half for lunch. So about 2 weeks ago at the end of the year party we all had pizza. The teacher pulled out a big bin with all the kids juice boxes. The boys had to have more than a weeks worth of juice in there.... So they aren't getting the juice i send in with their lunch??? Slowly i was thinking and it hit me last night as i was reading their log. For breakfast izaiah had string cheese. String cheese. WTH kind of breakfast is that?? ALSO, now that it's summer they go outside. The school doesn't have working water fountains. So i wrote a note last week asking if i should send in some water bottles for when they come inside. I dont want them to get dehydrated... She didn't answer. I wrote a note about the food lets see if she answers.

I wrote a very detailed question and comment this morning. Her reply to me, "he only wanted water today"

I asked, do you guys give them the juice I send in everyday and I asked about izaiah drinking the milk I send in from home. (I send in soy milk because they only give dairy. Everyday she's been ending it home, a full bottle. So because it sits in his back pack all day it goes bad. 3 days in a row I had to throw out 3 small bottles of milk.) she didn't answer....

This is what I was thinking.  My son doesn't like to eat at the school and I pack his lunch daily.  He will usually eat it on his ride home.  He told me it was too loud in the lunchroom and he can't eat.  I have been sending in things for him to snack on during the day when he is receiving his one one one time and it has been helping.  I do think his teacher should be communicating this with you.  :)

Oh no! Izaiahs an eater! But even if that were the case, fine. But the juice? They are going all day without having anything to drink especially if they do eat. And they NEVER refuse juice.

this happened with Selena too and shes an eater but the cafeteria and eating in front of other kids just spooked her. eventually(after two years) shes gotten over it but for a long time especially at the beginning of kinder it was a battle. i think this is quite common in our kids.

They used to eat when I sent in the food for them. I used to send in cereal and pb& fluff. And now that they get school breakfast (well Izaiah) he only eats string cheese. Its just weird.

Are the juice boxes specifically for them?

I send things with DS to his special needs preschool, but it's more for "everyone" unless a kid has a special diet. So even though I may be sending juice, water, crayons, etc, it doesn't mean they are ONLY for DS, which would explain why there are some left over after a while.  DS might have been drinking a different juice, using different crayons, etc.
