Waiting for the neuro appointment is torture!
Our doctor sent a referral to the neuro for our youngest adopted son. He's been delayed since he was 4 months old will catch up, lag behind, and this process goes on and on. He's not been on target for any of his Denver assessments for his checkups, yet they didn't think it warranted follow up. The developmental pediatrician didn't get my vote and to me seemed to dismiss many things that were alarming to us. So finally, Jaydens appointment is August 7th. Which thankfully is quicker than we thought.
We are going to see if they will do genetic testing since we don't know anything about bio father (they did DNA testing on multiple people but none were the father) and bio mom swears it is one that came back negative. Bio mom has a history of delays and concerns as well; thankfully we do know some of her history. He has some odd hand mannerisms and body postures.
It's just the classic things....never ending meltdowns, toe walking, repetitive speech, loud speech (hearing is fine), lining up objects, always has to have something in each hand, crawling from the front door to the car (every single time, no matter how hot the sidewalk is 108 outside today), speech delays, gross motor delays, food sensory issues, doesn't like affection, little to no eye contact, no ability to transition...NONE, etc.
I trust our neuro as we use their office with Kenny. I hope that if they don't feel that it is a spectrum disorder then they will at least be abel to help with the behavios...hitting, kicking, biting, pulling hair, pinching, head butting (have a huge 3 inch goose egg on my head today from him) and all that fun stuff. The deveopmental ped did say that when he got older he'd probably be diagnosed with a mental disorder ADHD, Bi Polar, something...so I don't know, I just know that I need my baby to be able to learn and function as a 2 year old should and not to leave so many bruises on everyone!
Please hurry August 7!!!!
