Are you enrolling your kids in any extracurricular activity(ies) for fall?

Any musicians in our midst? I know momtoscott's son ...

Most likely not. The only time we can go is weekends, and any extracurriculars tend to be packed.  We tried last Fall, and he hated it. So much so that the word class seems to have a bad name in his mind.

He'll be turning 5 this Fall. The only thing that concerns me is it's harder to do playdates now, more and more kids are doing some activity and aren't available. Otherwise, I think it's fine.

our nephew had a similar experience in a Y baseball program. for that reason we are sticking to more town/district programs as they seem to be staffed better, at least thats what our experience has been around here

That's great. Nicole's soccer coaches-through the Y-were actually pretty bad coaches. Unfortunately. In 3 seasons if playing, I think they won 4 games. One season-none at all. The coaches frequently canceled practice and a couple had never coaches before and seemed focused only on their kid playing. It was very frustrating.

this will be her second year 3rd season - the league has a fall and spring program and this past year she did both.

yes she actually picked up on soccer very quickly. the teams are great and the coaches work one on one with all the kids so she had an awesome time...and is looking forward to it again...and this is a regular town league..

Quoting greenmommo:

How long has she been doing soccer? Does she do well understanding her role as part of the team?

selena will be doing soccer again :)

I don't think we have any. I think the Y beat them out in competition. There are private clubs, but we can't afford that. Soccer is very big around here, so there are a lot of private clubs.

I wish I could get him to play football, but he is just not interested. He never wants to do anything! He starts his yoga tomorrow and he said he is only trying one thing, lol. We will see how it goes!

I think yoga is a good start-teaches balance. In fact, I think I'll look for some for Nicole. Her behavioral therapist has nicknamed her "crash" because she runs into everything and even the BT says Nicole says "ouch" more than any other kid she's seen.

I hope the yoga works. It will be part of his behavioral therapy each week. His therapist is going to do it with him so he will be more willing to try it. He loves her and will do whatever she says. The yoga teacher says she has had lots of success with asd kids. Plus like Nicole, Jordan is so clumsy! His poor knees have taken a beating over the years!

We used to do a calming yoga video (think I relied on your post about that) but we didn't stick with it long enough for her balance to be benefitted. She loved it though. Used to do poses when we were out in public.

Not sure you would call it a sport lol, but austin is signed up to be in a special bowling league.  He loves to bowl and since he has asthma kind of limits the sports he can do.  He loves basketball in moderation which involves me standing nearby with his inhaler, :)

That's an extracurricular activity.  My family likes to bowl too.  Oh, btw, it's my fault Logan doesn't have his letter already.  I told Nicole I would find pics to send and I couldn't find any.  DH finally found the boxes with pictures and so I will mail his letter today!

Having to stand by with an inhaler would be a little unnerving.
