with my 5 year old, i am about 85% positive it is attention seeking behavior. a lot of the behavior issues we are having with her startes when R started getting therapy. she started copying R's behavior. (R is 3 years younger than my 5 year old)
i don't know how to make them stop. i have taken my 8 year old to the doctor starting at age 4 to ask why she is doing this. she has been tested for deficincies, and there are none. it is behavioral. i was told she would out grow it. again, she is almost 9 and is still doing it.
we think my 8 year old has aspergers, but have never been able to get help when we needed it. we've been told that it is our parenting that is the problem.
Any way, do any of you have any advice as to how to get them to stop? I asked R's skills cooridinator for ideas and she suggested a chewy. My 8 year old didn't like that idea. I think she was embarassed at the suggestion. I think i will still get a couple of the pencil toppers and maybe a bracelet or necklace.
