My little girl will be 9 in october. and already we are starting with the 'teen tude'

i always knew there would be a difference between little girl attitude and big girl attitude.

but WOW

we were sitting on the couch watching some tv before it was time to start getting ready for bed.

she asked me a question but i didnt hear her so i said 'what did you ask?'

and with all the attitude in the world she huffs, and says 'never mind!!'

at first i just let it go, and said 'i didnt hear you'

'i SAID never mind mommy!'

ooooooooo

i said 'get  your little butt upstairs and sit on your bed. you think about your attitude and if it is ok or not'

so she groans and stomps up stairs. and then stops half way (aparently she thinks she is sneaky) and i say 'ALL the way!'

and she tries to quietly go up the rest of the way quickly and then say 'I AM all the way!'

oooh. when i found out about her ASD, i stopped spankings....but damn it...i told her 'girl you are SO CLOSE to a butt whooping!'

then my little girl finally came back out and she goes 'sorry mommy!' without the attitude and she is now sitting on her bed thinking about her behavior.

In about our fifth year of this now.  It kind of goes in waves of intensity.  The word "attitude" in our house is a warning from me that if he doesn't cool it, allowances will be cut.  That often fixes things temporarily, since DS loves being able to buy things very much!

About the only payback is how much I am able to embarrass my son, simply by existing.
