My son is very good at being emotional about things that concern him....like things that he wants. Yesterday, was the first time in a long time that he showed emotion about something other than him.
It was the last day of his summer school program, and the last day he will be in that school district. He came off the bus, ran to me, and yelled "Mommy, I need a hug!" He NEVER runs to me for a hug because he's emotional. His hugging of me is usually related to attempted manipulation and even that is rare. He then started sobbing because he's going to miss his 2 teachers and his friend John he met on the bus. (John is a 21 year old who attended a different program than my son). He got John's cell phone number so I told him he could call John and stay in contact with him. I told him that maybe he could meet John at the arcade so they could spend some time together.
It was nice to finally see him display some real emotion since it doesn't happen often.
