my boys are in school and they never go to bed on time. They want the light on the tv on they throw a fit if i dont lay with them until they fall asleep. If i leave the night light on my son turns it off and turns on the bedroom light. I get them into bed at 9 by the time they fall asleep it 10pm. Are they getting enough sleep? They wake up at 7am.

We start an hour before bed..we have Andrew start picking up, get jammies on..brush teeth then into bed. He watched maybe 20 mins of tv. When he watches tv..it's not nothing that will make him wanna play. Usually it's nick jr or something relaxing.

Well, I would love for him to be in bed around 7:30 or 8 like he is supposed to be. Lately he has been staying up later, like 9:30 or 10:30 before he is asleep. He is coming up with every excuse he can to avoid bedtime.

My son just started kindergarten last week. We started bumping bedtime back a couple of weeks before school. Routine works well for us too. Dinner, playtime, bath, brush teeth, then bed. He is usually in bed by 8:30 and asleep by 8:45 or 9.

They're usually asleep between 8 & 9. I have to lay with them for them to go to sleep also.

I have to lay with my kids until they fall asleep, too. They are usually back up in a few hours and crawl into our bed. My son said this morning that he doesn't get a good night sleep because he is always waking up in the night. He is 4 yrs old. It can take them 30 min. to an hour to go to sleep.

It's a bad habit, but the only way Toby used to go to sleep was if one of us layed with him.  Now that he's older, we lay with him for a few minutes and then tell him good night and go to our bed.  He doesn't fall asleep immediately, but he does lay there quietly.  Since school has started, we try to get the kids into bed between 8 & 8:30, but sometimes it's 9.

Our kids need an hour and a half to settle down at least. We spend the hour and a half on warm showers, tons of stories/books, quiet conversation, singing, sometimes back rubs. We try to have them asleep on school nights by 9:30, but due to homework that is sometimes impossible.

Mine are in bed at 7:30 and up at 6. We eat dinner, pick up, take baths and showers, get Jammie's on and brush teeth, and then they get to watch the goodnight show on sprout until about 7:20. We read a story, sing a song, and go to bed. Zack usually goes right to sleep, but the other 2 can take a while. I had to put Jeremiah back in his crib 4 times last night and Maggie was still awake too. They were asleep around 8:30-9.

Ben, 2, goes to bed at 8 and Nicole, 9, goes to bed at 9. Ben naps 1.5 hours.

Since they were 3 months old I've been a stickler for bedtime. With Ben, I change him and put him in his crib, turn on his noise and that's it. Nicole-I tell her to go to bed. I've never had any problems.
