ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS? I only have an hour....

Posted by   + Show Post

I am at library on the computer so I can print things out (I dont have a printer at home). The BIP/IEP meeting is Wednesday at 11am. I just printed out FBA information from behavioradvisor.com/FBA.html

I also printed out the emails from assistant principal, case manager, program specialist and director or special education...

Anything else you can think of that I should print out while I'm here?

I only have until 12:15...

That's a good idea. Thank you (he's 13yrs old, 5ft 6in and covered in body hair lol he's not so little anymore)

Quoting Basherte:

They know I don't have a car.

I would look into legal options now anyway. It's always better to be prepared for something and not need it then to need it and not be prepared for it.

I hope they do right by you and your little one.

Quoting mommaTLC186:

Wow, that's pretty impressive that they came out to your house to get your son familiar with teacher! Very cool!

I'm hoping that after this meeting the school actually follows through and follows the iep/bip. If not I may have to look into legal options.

Quoting Basherte:

Oh okay. Thank you.  I haven't had any of those. Just the IEP stuff. Just had one of those recently as well. Went really well. Found out on that meeting that my son's teacher was retiring, and met the new teacher. They both came to our house. My son interacted with the new teacher (name is John) within minutes of them being in the house. Then initiated interaction with John quite a few more times during the half hour or so they were here. It was pretty awesome. He doesn't go up to people and interact with them often and mostly just towards women. John is the first male (aside from the mainentance man) that he has done this. And it took a long time for the maintenance man to get my son to respond to him. Yes, he worked on that every time he came to the house. Now the interact every time he comes over. Which isn't often thankfully. But I like the maintenance man. He went above and beyond the call of his profession just to help my son be comfortable around him so that it isn't an ordeal for him when he comes here. (his name is Jamie)

Hopefully, everything goes well and both plans encompass exactly what your child needs at this time.

You're welcome.

What is the BIP part of it? I mean what does BIP stand for?

Quoting mommaTLC186:

Thank you :)

Quoting Basherte:

Oh okay. I didn't know that. I hope all goes well.

Quoting mommaTLC186:

The BIP/IEP meeting isn't until Wednesday at 11am. I'll be sure to post when I get done with it :)

Quoting Basherte:

I didn't get this until now. So I'm a little late to offer suggestions.

How did things go?

True.

But even when mine is 13 and really tall he'll still be my baby. Of course, I won't say that in ear shot of anyone else. I wouldn't want to scar him for life or embarrass him in front of his friends.

I'm fully prepared to hire an attorney and take my issues to a due process hearing. I'd rather have a friendly relationship, but I guess I may have to settle for them doing their jobs under judicial exercise of power. I consulted privately with a diagnosticitian from another district, and looking at my private eval, she can't imagine that they would seriously take the position at a due process hearing that he doesn't qualify.

I wish you good luck with that! I hope I don't have to do that. I don't have $ for an attorney

1 mom liked this

I think they do as well.

I know I secretly loved it when my parents did.
