Hi, I am a 43 yr old women who is married with a daughter who is 3 1/2 yrs old and was diagnosed with Austim.  She has been in early intervention for 2 yrs and is doing yet, but I have some questions that sometimes no one has the answers to.  I have joined the support group to help me and my husband understand my daughter and her needs a little better.

Welcome to the group! You are doing a fantastic job so far for her since she has been in early intervention and now preschool program. You can learn more about Special Education for free at http://www.wrightslaw.com/. This group is excellent at learning things. I also recommend joining a local support group through Autism Society (http://www.autism-society.org/) Autism Speaks (http://www.autismspeaks.org/), and Easter Seals (http://www.easterseals.org/) for local resources to help her. For activities, I recommend TheARC (http://www.thearc.org/), Special Olympics (http://www.specialolympics.org/), and Variety Club (http://www.varietyclub.org/).

Welcome to the group.

Many of us are also autistic adults on this group - so while we may not have magic answers to your questions, many of us may have personal experience with the things you are asking about, either because of being autistic, or raising an autistic child.

Welcome to the group!! I'm 44 and have an 11year old autistic son. We're all over the map in this group and everyone here is so supportive and has so much information. It's a wonderful group of women, honestly.

You're never alone! :-)

Welcome to the group. My name is Brenda. I am married and have 2 children. 1 is NT and the other is ASD. My ASD child is 2 1/2 soon to be 3. We received his dx last July and have been in EI since last April. The women in this group posts some very useful information they have found online or speak from experience. I have found that the experience part is the most useful to me.
