My name is Nicole and I have an 11yr old daughter with ADHD/Asperger's. I have been trying to find a support group, so I decided to join cafemom! It's nice to know that there is support out there and parents who  understand and are going through the same thing. My daughter is in the 5th grade and it's been quite a struggle. But we just found a new therapist and hoping to make progress! Could definetely get some advice on anger/meldowns and how to deal with it.

Welcome! I have three kids. My oldest is on the spectrum. My youngest might be. He just two yrs old so we will see.

As far as meltdowns go, Do you know what her triggers are?

Welcome to the group! You made a great first step in helping your daughter reach her full potential in life by joining this group! If you have not done yet, I recommend contacting the school in writing about her diagnosis and requesting an evaluation for Special Education services (http://www.wrightslaw.com/) in writing. I recommend getting her into social skills therapy either given by a speech therapist or psychologist. You can learn more about Asperger Syndrome at http://www.aspergersyndrome.org/. I recommend joining a local support group that you can find through Autism Society (http://www.autism-society.org/) and Easter Seals (http://www.easterseals.org/). You can find activities for her through TheARC (http://www.thearc.org/), Special Olympics (http://www.specialolympics.org/), and Variety Club (http://www.usvariety.org/).

WELCOME :)  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the support I've found through the other mothers here <3  Esp from my birth groups for my 2 children, they've really given so much help, esp recently with our 2 year old son.. I've only been on here 2 days and I'm in love with all the support and finding so many similarities (in a good way) with other mamas and their children, it makes me feel like we're not alone- I hope you love it as much as the rest of us and get some great advice along the way :)

Welcome! I am new here too and I can already tell that this forum will come in handy! My son is 6 and we deal with aggression from him on a daily basis. The only solution we have come up with that works somewhat is putting our son in a "quiet spot" or a "time out spot" until he calms his body. He has sat in his spots anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour. It is different every time.
