My 3 yr old son was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS...HE SCREAMS NON STOP!!!  I think it may be his was of stimming idk...has anyone ever heard of that or have similar children with stimming? He just screams when he excited, sad, whenever, happy...its just all the time!! Drives me nuts:) Its usually just short little screams highpitched, but its all the time..we say "Tasker be quiet and stop screaming" and he'll stop for like a min and go again!!

Welcome to the group! There is help out there for him, and it is there for him to find a way to express his needs even better than he has now (http://www.autismspeaks.org/). You need to get in touch with your school district in writing to request an evaluation for Special Education services (http://www.wrightslaw.com/) for him which will help him reach his full potential in life. Also, it is great you joined this group because you will learn a lot from all the ladies in this group with children of various ages. You should also join a local support group for local resources through Easter Seal (http://www.easterseals.org/) and Autism Society (http://www.autism-society.org/). You can find activities for him to do through Variety Club (http://www.usvariety.org/), Special Olympics (http://www.specialolympics.org/), and TheARC (http://www.thearc.org/).

My son screams, but it's a joyful scream.  Hugs mama!

My 5 year old son screams every time something doesn't go his way, which is a lot. I've noticed I'm having a harder time hearing regular conversation, and my right ear hurts off and on. It may get better as your son gets older.

yeah, mine is/was a screammer too. He'll do it every once in a while. Mine does it when he feels no one is paying attention :/

When he's bored.

I usually tell him, "hey thats too loud." He becomes quiet for a bit. Then I pretend to go back to what I'm doing. I give it like 3 minutes. Then I start playing with him and say "good job being quiet!"

Yesterday my 2 1/2 year old just let out an ear piercing scream - from his complete happiness - at my daughters orchestra concert! Dh had to run him out of there asap. LOL

what works for my ds when he screams (out of happiness... when hes upset it just makes it worse) is that mama's ears hurt and its too loud and he'll repeat it back and normally stop...   saw you were wondering how to stop it, not sure if it will work for you but sometimes works for us
