My husband and I are looking into relocating from New York to Charleston, South Carolina. I was just hoping that someone could give me an idea of how the autism services in SC are? If anyone knows anything about Charleston specifically, that would be great. Thank you!
The best way to locate services for your child is through the local school, but it can also be through a nonprofit agency or a local support group. You might want to check with your local Autism Society (http://www.autism-society.org/), Easter Seals (http://www.easterseals.org/), TheARC (http://www.thearc.org/), and Autism Speaks (http://www.autismspeaks.org/) there. For recreation, you might want to check out http://www.usvariety.org/ and http://www.specialolympics.org/. For Special Education stuff, you should check out: http://www.wrightslaw.com/. Most of all, make sure to request the transfer of his Special Education files to his new school.

Thanks everyone! I managed to find a contact person down there that put me in touch with the department of disabilities and special needs. It looks like they have tons of information.
