That my 12 y/o DD tested positive for mild to moderate asperger's.I kind of had a hunch she had it,but wasn't 100% sure. Incidentally, she also suffers from a depressive disorder & an anxiety d/o & was recently hospitalized a 3rd time in as many years, this time for refusing to take her meds for 2 weeks straight.Ironically,we found out about her 'aspie's dx the day she was being discharged(last monday). The psychiatrist had us take a test & those were the results. Her older brother,17,also has aspie;s,though he is more on the lower end of the moderate level...it's just been kind of overwhelming for me b/c,in addition to both dd & ds's unique, individual needs,i'm also caretaker of my Dh,who is a 15 yr navy veteran w/ PTSD,depression & anxiety d/o,as well as trying to manage my own health issues on top of it all & with no family or friends nearby to help...Sorry to vent, just really feeling overwhelmed I guess...cat

Wow you sure so have a lot on your plate! Hugs and welcome.

Remember, your dd is still the same even with a new diagnosis. Hopefully this will open some more doors for her in the form of resources and services.

Wow, you have so much to deal with. I am sorry that your life is only about caring for others right now. You need time to refuel and take care of yourself, no one can sustain that kind of responsibility. I can understand why you feel overwhelmed. I can't help wondering if there is somewhere you could turn for help? You desperately need a little time that is about taking care of yourself. I wish I had an answer for you. Please continue to post how you are feeling, at least you can get it out and be heard. That is a start. We are here to listen....XO

Hugs momma! You are one tough girl if you haven't broken down yet. Been there with the hospital situation. We had to put ds in for aggression. He has been to two hospitals because he was abused at the first one. We insisted on a transfer. The great part of this group? You are so not alone. We are all in much the same boat and from what I have seen, everyone supports each other. God bless you momma, hang in there...

Thank you so much! I am so very sorry to hear your ds was being abused in that 1st hospital! Omg! I hope there was some legal action you were able to take,or at least that the person/s responsible were fired on the spot! hugs

Hugs mom! We're here to listen.

If I may ask, I read somewhere that there is no "mild to moderate" aspergers, just aspergers. Which doesn't make sense to me. It actually makes sense of "mild" "mod" and "severe" anything. Did your psychiatrist tell you "mild to moderate"?
