I have a 14 year old son with AS,the teachers feel he will do great in a self contained classroom vs inclussion classes. My son refuses to go into the special education classes. Is there anyway he can get special education work in a mainstream classroom?

In Canada everyone is in inclusive classrooms, they stopped separating kids into special classes years ago. My daughter is in class with mainstream kids, but has an IEP and one on one aide, so she's not expected to follow the same cirriculum, though they do their best to include her in everything they do. Does he have an IEP?

By law they have to put him in the least restrictive environment. Why is it they want him in a self contained class?

My 15 year old is in high school and he has one class called learning strategies that was all special Ed. He hated it so at semester I emailed the counselor and they put him him keyboarding instead.
